The Good Part - Things are Looking Up

Once again, my body betrayed me

Keep Movin’

I was ready. Our last walk we added another 2K. We walked 12K!

That was my outlook at the end of my last story. This is what I wrote and below is the link ICYMI

The good part — things are looking up. I jogged a couple times this past week and I feel
I’ll be close to 100% within the next couple of weeks.

We both were ready to build up to 15K before it got too hot. We could easily adjust our start time to be done before the temperature hit 100.

I really wanted that to happen.

Two days later, my body thought otherwise. Especially my left glute.

Yep. I had a real pain in the butt. The next morning I could barely walk. It truly hurt like hell.

The worst part, unlike with my previous injury, the healing has been up and down. Every time I think this is it, we can get back to walking. It flairs up and I’m back taking baby steps.

But I do keep movin’.

Keep Groovin’

There’ve definitely been moments I’ve been frustrated. I’m not gonna lie. You can’t let the frustration take over.

When I find myself frustrated, it’s time to breathe, meditate or use healing affirmations.

Thankfully, our morning wake up workouts continue as do our three times a week yoga sessions. All in a relaxed setting with my partner guiding the way.

Mindset is key to healing.

Yes, I do keep groovin’.

Don’t Stop

As hard as it’s been to get up and get out, I had to. We had to eat and besides, I enjoy doing the grocery shopping.

It was pretty funny when we arrived there last week. My partner drove and I’d had a painful morning. I was determined to go.

There were a fair number of cars in the parking lot. I steadied myself against the car door as I rose from the passenger seat. I moved to close the door. The pain was instantaneous and took my breath away.

I immediately reached back, grabbed my left butt cheek and began walking towards the entrance.

All’s I could do was laugh. I told my partner, I don’t care who’s behind me or who saw that but wow, it eased my pain. That’s all that mattered.

It was a reminder. No matter how ridiculous I may have looked — don’t stop.

Patience

These back-to-back injuries are another lesson in patience. Healing takes time. Treat yourself well.

Like the tiles in the picture above — Pause — Rest — Never Give Up!

Those words seem to go hand-in-hand with my mantra.
